Artistic Photography.

When I grow up I want to be Mutua Matheka! No, honestly. He’s the fine artist/ illustrator/ (designer-i-suspect)/ architect turned interior designer and awesomest photographer. I know there can only be one M.M….

….Ok, maybe Not in this case, but in him I see Eugene of the future.

I know I will take up photography at some point. But until then when I buy me a camera, Ill just better the other arts.

I could have posted here his complete blog – (everything is just so damn good), but now that we cant have 50+ images..

Savour these! You can also follow him on twitter, facebook, view the rest of his works at behance and flickr

N A I R O B I .. Wouldn't you just Loove to live in this City? Wait.. you probably do!

N A I R O B I, Another spectacular view.

Thanks for visiting bytheway. You can now find us on facebook!

.: Leon Muli :. the Photography Genius

Posted by eujomnoma in Aug 31, 2010, under Nairobi Kuna Talent (NKT), Photography

Professional Photography is a fast- maturing industry in Kenya and again, NKT! They say in Swahili “Kizuri chajiuza” (Good things sell themselves *direct translation* : ), and that’s how I came to know of Leon Muli. When Talent meets Hard- work, miracles take place. I honestly think this is the case with Leon. His work is waaaaaay overboard, despite his age (he’s in his 20′s). He’s one of my favourite photographers I must say, a person I look up to.

So I collected some of his photos from his site and blog, which I thought were outstanding. If you like what you see, you can join his group on facebook. Enjoy : )

Self Portrait

This was my personal favourite out of this bunch. Its so artistic.

I think this last piece was ingenious. If you liked this post feel free to share. Thanks for visiting.

.: Dan Magothe :. the Master of Pencil art

Posted by eujomnoma in Aug 19, 2010, under Nairobi Kuna Talent (NKT), Photography, Uncategorized

Dan Magothe is a Contemporary Artist in Nairobi, Kenya. I met him on facebook, well first through his art. The following is part of a collection he’s exhibiting, dubbed “Peaces of my heART”. He’s primarily a dry- media artist, uses pencil for most of his work.

I think its incredible the way he captures detail and emotion. Have a look at his work. You can follow Dan Magothe on facebook.

.: Eugene’s Photography with the Kids :.

Posted by eujomnoma in Jul 28, 2010, under Photography

Disclaimer: I am not a photographer, I don’t think I should qualify as an amateur coz really, i don’t yet know how to operate a camera.. Well at the least I can press that button up there and take a steady image. I don’t (yet) know what strobes are, and those other cool names applied to photography.

However; I’m a Graphic Designer, pretty good at it and I know how a great photo should look like, I work with them.. Thus my knowledge of light and the effect it can/ should create on an object and make it beautiful. But now I want to learn photography. So my bro “borrowed” a Camera last week from job. He needed photos taken for Lele their band, for promotion bla bla bla.. So am at their practice session and they decide to do the shoot and that I will conveniently direct the shoot.. I don’t really like showcasing to the world skills that I know I lack and thus embarrass myself; but due to lack of options on my side I decided to proceed with it. Unfortunately it was at night and we had to do the shoot using natural light (street lamps :) etc). Those photos will be coming up soon.

I got carried away and decided to do an entire shoot by my self at home; especially with the kids- i love kids.. These are what we came up with:

Hawi my baby cousin grew teeth :)

And controlling the baby became a problem! He wanted to go everywhere!

So we had this camel- teddy and I was telling Samantha to be creative. She can take good photos; i have to admit!

Roza and Samantha, being creative with props.. And that light bulb on the side :)

Roza again :) )

And this is one for the whole family of kids (yes, including my big bro haha..)

A close up portrait of 'thy highness' taken by my bro :)

"As a man maketh his bed, so does he lie on it" ..(or how does that saying go again??)

My brother (I would be killed if I didn't upload this photo)

Roza's mum

Cyril my cousin, up- close portrait

Cyril

Just me and Sweetie. (yap, that's her name.. Yes, her. my guitar)

And 1 for the whole family minus one taking the picture :)

Landscape

ujo-landscape…Most of my works on Photoshop are very experimental, just playing with the brushes.. I think this piece was incomplete, I kind of lost interest in completing it, though still looks good..
